C E Martin commented on the post, Who Do You Blame in a Science Fiction World? 1 week, 3 days ago

Author Myke Cole inspired me. I read something on FB he said about God being cruel. He blmes God for bad things. That got me thinking, ad this waswhere my train of thought took me.

C E Martin commented on the post, Iron Man 3 as Critique of Techno-Darwinism 1 week, 3 days ago

Just got home from finally seeing it. I must respectfully disagree. It’s the least comic book like of all the movies.

When i read comics in the 70s or 80s, they were about the costumed/armored characters, with […]

C E Martin wrote a new post, REVIEW: Zombieland, The Series 2 weeks, 5 days ago

ThumbnailOnce in awhile, something wonderful happens. A great movie gets new life, in the form of a sequel. Take, for example, my personal favorite, Predator. Oh, sure it’s got lots of flaws, but it’s like two movies in […]

C E Martin wrote a new post, REVIEW: Dead Island- Riptide 3 weeks, 6 days ago

Thumbnail(Review copy played on the Xbox 360 console, mileage may vary)

There was one game that came out in 2012 that I played far more than any other. FAR more. Dead Island. And now it has a sequel!

    If you […]

C E Martin commented on the post, An Unhappy Burtiversary 1 month ago

Whoops, just realized, there actually are a couple of severed body parts in some episodes, and one particularly gruesome, skeleton with most of it’s flesh melted off by acid. Pretty tame by today’s standards but I […]

C E Martin commented on the post, Are Vampires So 2012? 1 month ago

First tv vampire detective was Rick Springfield in Nick Night. Few years later, Canadians tried again w super popular Forever Knight syndicated show.

Sadly, the only film incarnation of the truly first vampire […]

C E Martin wrote a new post, Book Review: Skull Island, by Will Murray 1 month, 2 weeks ago

ThumbnailThis is going to be a first for me- I’m going to review a book BEFORE I finish it.

Hold on! You might be thinking. How can I pass judgement on a book without finishing it? Well, I don’t have to eat a steak in […]

C E Martin commented on the post, Christianity vs. Science Fiction 1 month, 2 weeks ago

Wow! Thanks, guys n gals! First, for making this one of the top 25 posts of the month, here at Amazing! Secondly, thanks for proving my point. Instead of talking about making Science Fiction fandom a place where […]

Careful, Geoffrey- your prejudice is showing.

C E Martin commented on the post, Another Difference Between Real Scientists and Science Fiction Scientists 1 month, 3 weeks ago

I love it! I completely feel your pain. I work in law enforcement and it’s nothing like the docudramas where crimes are committed, solved, prosecuted and convicted all in one hour. Real life is far more filled […]

C E Martin commented on the post, Buying a Book for its Cover 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Interesting points. I wonder why the sword n sorcery type ebooks don’t sell as well as the smutty erotica/romance books do- both feature sex-oriented covers.

C E Martin commented on the post, Christianity vs. Science Fiction 1 month, 3 weeks ago

The responses here seem to be gravitating toward a debate about whether or not Christian beliefs are true (I’m pointing at you, Steve). Tnat wasn’t the point of the article.

The point was, show Christians some […]

C E Martin commented on the post, Christianity vs. Science Fiction 1 month, 3 weeks ago

I agree the animosity needs to go, but there’s a basic flaw with your reasoning- unless you’ve polled all Christians, you can’t really say what “most” believe. Most Christians I personally know aren’t […]

C E Martin commented on the post, Self Publishing for Beginners 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Good luck. The hardest part of indie authoring is getting discovered- by reviewers and readers.

As for your cover, most indies think you need a photo and a “Pro”. I like the minimalist approach like you’ve […]

C E Martin commented on the post, How Much Will They Pay? Pricing E-books for Fun and Profit 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Price haunts me with each book i’ve indie published. On the one hand I don’t feel it’s fair to charge the same as a print book- I don’t have the expenses of a publisher. If I went through a publisher all I’d get […]

C E Martin commented on the post, The Destroyer is Back! 2 months ago

I still think the Remo movie is cool! But it is lame as well. The villain is a guy selling defective guns? Weak. And I never cared for Kate Mulgrew doing her Catherine Hepburn impersonation in the movie. On Golden […]

C E Martin wrote a new post, Christianity vs. Science Fiction 2 months ago

Of late, I am sensing that lines have been drawn and sides chosen in the camps of Science Fiction (& Fantasy) and Christianity. There’s a virtual wall between the two fandom groups- and that’s a darned shame.

    I […]

Amazing Stories isn’t the only thing making a triumphant return in 2013. Sinanju is recently returned to the literary scene, with TWO series of novels.

If the word Sinanju doesn’t ring any bells, then […]

C E Martin commented on the post, Crowdfunding as a Publishing Strategy 2 months ago

I view Kickstarter, as it relates to novels, as a win-win for an Author. Let’s say you want to fund some challenge coins for your military-science fantasy series. You could give out extras as promos, and pledgers […]

About

Amazing Stories was originally published by the Experimenter Publishing Company in 1926 and was the world's first science fiction magazine. Its owner, publisher and first editor was Hugo Gernsback who has been called the Father of Science Fiction. Amazing Stories was published continuously - by different publishers - until 1995. It was resurrected between 1998 and 2000 and again between 2004 and 2005. Now it is back again, published by a new version of the Experimenter Publishing Company, in a new format, with a bright new future awaiting it.
