David Whitbeck commented on the post, A Way To End Ebook Piracy? 4 months, 1 week ago

I think that it is a poor idea. And Geoffrey don’t attack me as you did everybody else, I’m just expressing my opinion. You did ask for opinions after all.

I think that it is interesting that Diablo 3 was […]

David Whitbeck commented on the post, “I Like Science Fiction, It’s Got Like Giant Robots and Stuff, Right?” Science Fiction’s Self-Esteem Problem Part III: Robots, Reboots and Remakes. How Hollywood Kills Serious Science Fiction 4 months, 2 weeks ago

I think you conveniently forgot about Moon and the Solaris remake. But I agree with you, I had a student ask me “don’t you get tired of spaceships exploding?” in reference to me reading sci-fi. Arg, it’s not […]

David Whitbeck commented on the post, The Speed of Science 4 months, 3 weeks ago

Most of Ben Bova’s novels have respect for the scientist’s journey. The characters take months or even years of methodical research. Greg Egan also shows a glimpse of the process as well. Despite Benford and […]

David Whitbeck commented on the post, Ready When You Are, JJ 4 months, 3 weeks ago

Since Abrams, Lucas and Cameron are the only people to make financially successful space opera in the past decade, this whine seems to be a bit silly. You complain that Star Trek is juvenile, well Star Wars is […]

David Whitbeck commented on the post, A Big Money Cast Doesn’t Always Make For A Hit 4 months, 3 weeks ago

Saying that an all star cast is anathema to the success of a show is the wrong conclusion to draw. The key to success is good writing. Besides there are many successful shows with well known stars. 666 Park Ave […]

About

Amazing Stories was originally published by the Experimenter Publishing Company in 1926 and was the world's first science fiction magazine. Its owner, publisher and first editor was Hugo Gernsback who has been called the Father of Science Fiction. Amazing Stories was published continuously - by different publishers - until 1995. It was resurrected between 1998 and 2000 and again between 2004 and 2005. Now it is back again, published by a new version of the Experimenter Publishing Company, in a new format, with a bright new future awaiting it.
