Amazing Stories

Today marks 30 days until Comic Con in London, specifically MCM Expo at the Excel Centre in the East End. I’ve already started my pre-packing for my vacation in London and have been accepted for a press pass once again by the amazing people at MCM. It really is – in my estimation – a festival that has everything to offer. There are celebrities from many different genres, vendors of everything geeky one can imagine, and of course lots and lots of cosplay. Some of you may remember my first article on side-by-side cosplays, which can be found here. I thought with a month to go, it was time for some previews of costumes that will most likely be seen at Expo this May. Now, I do not claim to know who all of these costumes represent; I do know most of the major ones, but there are some that were just to good not to include. My geeky knowledge grows and grows, but there are just so many different genres covered. And even within each genre there are even more layers and divisions of stories, characters, programs, and such. Anyway, enjoy the photos and the amazing ability of these people to create their costumes…even more, to become if but for a day or two, the characters they admire.

And the cosplays are:

Anime is strongly represented

Lego pops up, too, going in both directions.

Disney is always popular.

As is Pirates of the Caribbean.

All sorts of superheroes abound, even a few that are crossplays (men as female characters, women as male characters).

SciFi is always big.

And it just wouldn’t be a convention without Deadpool.

Or Harley.

There are also some quite clever ones from The Simpsons and South Park.

The Walking Dead, of course.

And the rest, all great cosplays in their own right, well-executed and fun.

And as always, one of my favorites has to be this gentleman. It took me a while to figure out which was the original and which the cosplay.

So if you are going to be in London 25-27 May, look for me. I’ll be the tall American with his camera and a press pass, all over the place.

There are still tickets available if you want to attend. The link for MCM Comic Con is here.
